We started off in white pine and rode north to Silver City. The trail was decent, but had the early season water holes that we expected. We stopped by the foot hills and then made our way to Lake of the Clouds. We were the first sleds up there in several days and it looked like very few people made the hike up the trail to see the view. We left there and headed south on trail 11 and hooked up with trail 102 towards Bergland. Trail 11 was in sweet shape and had a lot of fresh loose powder to play around in. 102 was also in decent shape, but was a little rough due to a few pot holes and other brush. Once they get some more snow it should really smooth out that trail. We got into Bergland and ate dinner at Antonios. After getting gas at Nordines we headed out of town, north on trail 1. Trail 1 is normally one of my favorite trails because it is a wide road that is usually abundant in snow. This year it looks like they are logging part of that trail therefore they have most of the road plowed. Hopefully they will be done logging soon and will stop plowing. We made it back to white pine and enjoyed another evening at the porcupine lodge.

All trails were in great shape and freshly groomed. We rode up to Lake of the Clouds. It was a great ride other than we blew a blet.

We rode from White Pine to Bergland. Trail 1 was in great shape, a bump here or there, but over all, excellent! The snow seemed to be deeper around White Pine and thinned out towawrds Bergland. After getting gas we headed west on trail 8 to catch 102 north. This trail was freshly groomed and we were the first to ride on it. Eventually we did catch up with the groomer on trail 102 and passed them. Once past the groomer the trail was a little rougher from the weekend traffic, but I'm sure the groomer took care of that. After a few miles of the bumps we came into some really awesome powder. I haven't seen powder like that in the UP for 6 or 7 seasons now. We made our way to trail 11 and thats when the fun began! The powder on the park road (trail 11) was so deep, our sleds were like snow plows. The snow would just get pushed ahead and eventually run up over the windshield. During the day time this would have been sweet, but at night when it blocks your headlight, that makes for a slow ride! We took our time and enjoyed every minute of playing in that powder. If you make a trip to the UP, be sure to check out this trail!

We ate lunch at the northshore family restaurant. Good food and very friendly service! We had dinner at Antonio's Restaurant. The food was OK, but the service was friendly as usual.
